Gan Jie Cha (柑桔茶, gān jie chá) is a general term for Chinese teas with added citrus: from tea packed inside a dried mandarin or orange to blends with peel and slices. Depending on the tea base (pu-erh, black, green, etc.) and processing method, the taste varies from rich earthy with citrusy freshness to light floral with a sour note. Especially popular are the ‘Xiao Qing Gan’ (small green mandarin with shu pu-erh) and ‘Da Hong Gan’ (large red mandarin with tea) formats.
Ingredients: Pu-erh tea, green tangerine peel (chenpi)
The aroma is dominated by bright citrus peel, complemented by deep earthy, woody, and sweet dried-fruit notes of pu-erh; the taste is rounded, with a delicate sourness and a long, warming aftertaste.
